Mine will be the first to get the ball rolling, much as was done on the Redeemer's. Blades in HT should be off to CF soon.

Actually, when I talked to him today, he said that the prototype should be finished by the end of the week. He said he had the blades, and now the main delay is with the hilts.

Okay...I'm not quite sure what you mean by "as a side", but...
Actually, with me, the big problem is that I do this "how to buy a sword" presentation at Toronto Trek every year, and in order to use the Ranger as an example of the high end, it has to arrive on time. This means that it pretty much has to be in my hands by the end of June.
Still, it should be one heck of a show if all does go according to plan...I think a Gus Trim Ranger would really wow the audience...

Well I wanted a customer (you) to get #1. I'll be using a non-standard blade for the Ranger II, or Boarderwatch as CF is calling it. As to not take away a numbered sword from Customers I'll take some thing close but not a standard sword.

I think the presentation is related to Robert's sword-buying-guide. If you make it the "internet-way" it will take months of reading through articles on SFI, Netsword, myArmoury, wading through hundreds of threads and researching a lot of companies and their products. Not everyone has such a lot time to get a decent sword. :)

It's very much related to that manuscript. I'm still using the table of contents from it as my structure.
The presentation usually runs as follows. I have a selection of swords on a table, some stainless steel, some higher end, and my custom Heimrick. I introduce myself, talk about why the sword market can be so confusing, and then talk about sword construction (parts, terminology, etc.), metallurgy, what heat treatment actually means, and then what sort of swords are available, and how to recognize them.
I've got a couple of stainless steel swords. I've got two WMA swords. I've got a Last Legend Ranger as my cutter (and now a "Sword of Dracula" as well). By the time I do my presentation at Ad Astra (a different convention) in the first weekend of April, I'll have a Skofnung that I can dismantle for the first section of the presentation, and if I'm lucky, I'll have two Practical Rapiers as well, to demonstrate a fencing sword.
But, my panel has never had a true high-end sword. I can just see the look on everybody's faces when I pull the Gus Trim Ranger out and say "when you're a serious collector, you start seeing swords like THIS."
I'd like to think that I help a bit in educating people about what to look for, and cut down on the headaches (or increase them, depending on what they're trying to pass off as quality merchandise).

I thought that the old Ranger was a pretty country fair sword. On the other hand, I really like the looks of this one. well done to the CF/Atrim collaboration.

More pictures, everybody! These ones are fresh from Christian Fletcher...it's a Borderwatch hilt mounted on a 1313 blade (I'm getting it on a 1415 blade), and the hilt is antiqued.

So, without further ado, the first of hopefully many pictures to come (this is the only one Christian has sent me so far), my Ranger Revisited/Borderwatch - the current front-runner for the name is "Watcher".

All credit goes to Christian Fletcher and Angus Trim, obviously. Ironically, neither colour in the picture is actually correct - the colour is oxblood, and what happened was that the colour correction in the program CF used to put the picture together corrected the oxblood on the scabbard one way, and on the hilt the opposite way.
Gotta love computers, eh?
