Here's the test copy I had rebound. It seems very solid. The stitches seem to grab the pages well and it would seem they shouldn't tear easily.

They were able to bind in the original front and back cover as well.

This copy will be for sale for $130 since it has the printing on the front cover.

Well, the test copy is spoken for. :)

I'll order more copies (when they become available any day now) and have them rebound like the test copy, minus the lettering on the front cover (but with lettering still on the spine).

I have 5 copies on order now. Please chime in if you're serious about buying copy. I want to make sure I have enough.

:)

Chad,
I would also sign up for one of the hardcovers, but I will pay by postal money order, is that a problem? PM if there is. JCH

No problem. We'll work out all the final details when everything is ready to ship.

Chad,
Since my search for a copy has come to nought as of yet I would like to get a copy as well. Besides, the book looks very classy the way it was done in the pictures that you posted.

I shouldn't, but I can't resist.

Besides, nobody ever seems to have this one in stock! I'm chimed =)

Well, I'm in also and since I haven't this book or even seen it having a nice and sturdy/attractive version of it seems like the best way to go.

$130 is fine for me with the titles or without the titles on the cover: Whatever is easiest if some standardization is preferable.

A heads-up when it will be close to delivery/payment ( A week or so would be nice and I would pay by Paypall ).

You can easily give up your freedom. You have to fight hard to get it back!

I'm definitely still interested! Might want to private-message me since I've been only sporadically checking the forum lately.

I purchased the test copy from Chad and just received it last night (the guys at customs kept it for a week), it is a very nice job. The quality of the entire rebinding appears high and well worth the price. I would recommend ordering one from Chad if you want a copy of this book that won't fall apart after a week and are not willing to shell out the $300 or so that an original hardbound copy seems to bring.
'I saw young Harry, -with his bevor on,
His cuisses on his thighs, gallantly arm'd,-
Rise from the ground like feather'd Mercury,
And vaulted with such ease into his seat,
As if an angel dropp'd down from the clouds,
To turn and wind a fiery Pegasus,
And witch the world with noble horsemanship.'

Jason,
Glad you like it! I think it turned out pretty well, especially for half the price of the out-of-print Boydell hardcover. 8 people have indicated serious interest so far and it appears Boydell has just finished a run of the paperbacks. Hopefully I can get my Amazon order soon and get these in the works.

There's a good chance that if we get 10 copies rebound, they'll give a discount on the group order. I don't know how much, but if two more people are one the fence about it, we might be able to knock a couple bucks off the total price if you decide to take the plunge. :) Let me know soon so I can order the extra 2 copies.

:)

Chad,
I hope that I am one of those 8 you mentioned since this definitely looks worth the price.

If we get that 10th copy, then I can do them for $120 each (+ s/h). If we get to 15 copies, then I can take another $5 off, for $115 each + s/h.

Any idea what standard airmail postage would be to Sydney Australia for the book?

Thanks

Danny,
I don't have the book in-hand at the moment, so I'm guessing a little bit. But using the USPS's flat-rate box (which is the same price regardless of weight), it should be $39.85 USD.

I already have a copy and am interested in having it rebound. It's falling apart at the moment.

Mike,
As I mentioned earlier in this thread, my intent is not to deal with rebinding people's existing copies. First, I and the binder would have to know whose copy is whose and keep that all straight. On top of that, the price quoted is for taking an existing new binding that hasn't had a chance to fall apart yet and rebinding it make it more sound. Taking one that's in pieces and putting it back together would likely cost more.

:)
