Fantasy Sword - Sword of Truth from Terry Goodkind's books (not the TV series) would be a good start, it describes the single fuller, circular pommel, the wire wrapped hilt with words 'Truth' somehow made from twisted wire embedded in the length of the hand grip. I'd be very keen to see it done.
For mythology I would go with Caladbolg seeing as how it cut through a mountain, which, while I'm not an expert on swords, I believe is fairly hard to do.

For fantasy I would go with a katana, for anyone who says that a katana is not a work of fantasy needs to visit some less informed forums, apparently they can cut through a M-1 Garand like butter, and that's one of the more reasonable claims.

And from recent fiction I would go with Mel Gibson's Bayonet from We Were Soldiers, seeing as how that is attached to an M-16 I'm sure it would be useful.
At the momoent, I can't think of a specific sword I'd like.

Excalibur's scabbard on the other hand...
From mythology: Excalibur, hands down (the way it was presented in the Boorman movie). The benchmark all other swords are measured against.

From fantasy/fiction: I wouldn't mind taking a few practice cuts with Connor MacCleod's katana.
1.I always liked Bilbo's sword "Sting". Of fine quality, and of course orc proximity indication. Not to mention I have a thing for short swords. The WETA workshop rendition from the movies was pretty nice looking.

2.A heron marked blade from the Wheel of Time Universe would be swell. I also like the new Warder Blade offered by Valiant, which I imagine could look a lot like a heron marked blade. Very katana / saber looking blade, with funky cross.

3. Lightsaber... do I really need to say anymore?
Hmm, interesting topic.
I think I would prefer Durendal (Durindana) - the sword that belonged to Roland, hero of The Song of Roland; it once belonged to Hector of Troy (that is the point!). Another choice (from fantasy) is Andúril...
I want Changling, the sword of Morgaine in C. J. Cherryh's
Quote:
Morgaine Cycle
novels. Nice to have sword that can generate a black hole at its tip to horribly destroy anyone who comes into contact with it! No messing around with cuts or thrusts...just unsheath it and wave it around you killing all your foes in a grissly and horrible manner. :-)
Glamdring
Old Ben's Lightsaber
In the LOTR The Two Towers @ the Battle of Helms Deep...Aragorn takes that beaten up sword from the Rohan kid and swings it around and says this is a good sword...for some reason I really like that sword alot

Actually, I was just thinking about the same sword. For some reason, it's one of my favorites from LotR.

Other swords I'd like...

Inigo Montoya's Rapier
Anduril
Aragorn's Ranger sword
The Sword of Destiny (from Pirates of the Caribbean)
Count Dooku's lightsaber, or better yet, a basket-hilted lightsaber...
Other swords I'd like...

Inigo Montoya's Rapier

Was there ever a collectible version of Inigo's rapier? I really liked the look of it.

if my memory serves me, Paul Macdonald ( http://www.macdonaldarms.com/armoury/ ) in edinburgh somehow got a lisencing agreement for it.

I've heard about his work, but I have never owned one of Paul's peices personally. As a result, I have no clue if stories I've heard about bad heat-treating are still accurate. I sincerely hope the stories that were floating around a few years back are no longer relevant.

regarding swords from fantasy, I'm adraid I'd rather like Death's sword (and/or scythe) from Terry Pratchett's "Mort" myself. :)
