I'm working on an article about a late medieval sword (Oakeshott XVIa/H1/2) and I'm having trouble finding some references on "dagger-marks". Sure, Oakeshott mentioned them as probable maker marks but that's it. Can somebody help me with this. I'm posting a photo of the mark. It's damaged (the sword is a watter find from the 19th century) but still recognizeble.

So Martina, I am not sure about this dagger mark but I think there's somebody here in this forum who can inform you about this.

There is a XVII type sword found in river Bednja, Croatia, with the same dagger mark, but Stari Grad museum, Vara˛din, insists that it is not a dagger mark, but cross. In Oakeshott's Records of the Medieval Sword there are several swords with that kind of dagger mark, all 14th century swords. I will post photos I took of a Bednja type XVII sword later, when I find them. Martina, where from Croatia are you?
