Phoenix Metal Bastard Sword
Original: Circa 16th century
Erik Stevenson of Phoenix Metal Creations has made a name for himself as a cutler who takes existing blades and mounts amazing hilts to them. This particular one is based after a German gothic style and mounted on an Oakeshott
Type XIIIa variant, which was made by
Angus "Gus" Trim.
As a bastard sword it handles quite well in either one or two hands. It has a definite feeling of mass and power, yet it is still remarkably quick. The sculpting of the guard is very well defined, though the finger rings appear to be more for aesthetics than function, as there is not enough room to loop the finger around the guard if desired. That said, the sword feels very natural without doing this, so it is of no concern.
