Arma Bohemia Ballock Dagger
Original: Possibly Flemish, 15th century
As with any dagger form,
ballock daggers came in a staggering variety of sizes and shapes, from small, ornate and elegant daggers to large, no-nonsense, no-frills weapons. Named for the phallic shape of the grip (two bulbous projections beneath an often-upward-swelling cylinder) they were popular in Europe for centuries with both warriors and civilians.
This dagger by Arma Bohemia is based off a dagger thought to be Flemish and housed in Museums für Deutsche Geschichte. The hilt of this replica is carved from walnut and stained black. The pommel, embossed pommel cap, and scrolled guard are made of brass, while the stout, diamond cross-section blade is of steel. A wooden scabbard with long brass chape is included.
