ArmArt S4 Knightly
Original: Western Europe, 13th century
While not based on a specific historical example, this sword is similar to many seen in the 12th and 13th century. The Brazil-nut-shaped pommel and straight guard are cast in bronze. A cross moline is engraved on both sides of the pommel. The wooden grip is spirally wrapped with a thong of dark brown leather. The blade is fullered for 2/3 of its length with a wide deep groove. The fuller is engraved on one side with
Deus Vult ("God wills it").
Jesse Bailey has crafted a custom scabbard for this sword in period fashion. It is made of poplar, lined with wool. The vegetable-tanned leather covering of the scabbard has been dyed brown with Jesse's hand-mixed dye and has tooled lines running down its length. The chape is antiqued steel. The integral belt is made of elk skin, surface-dyed for authenticity. The end of the belt is split into two tails that get tied through eyelets in the other end of the belt.
