We have three decade's experience researching and conducting medieval-style feats of arms. But many of our combatants also compete in HEMA.

Our students experience chivalry both by reading and by exercising themselves in arms, through the mechanism of renown.

ARMS & ARMOUR

We train with a variety of weapon simulators and protective gear, but we encourage our students to wear authentic shoes, clothing, & armour.

OUR INSTRUCTORS

SSG certifies our instructors following the structured curriculum and proven teaching ability after a comprehensive 2-3 hour oral exam. Junior instructors have a minumum 3 years experience while the senior have an average of 9 years. 

CURRICULUM

The SSG's structured approach to training builds solid skills based on Fiore dei Liberi's l'arte d'armizare with the sword in two hands. Taught as a principle-based art, skills transfer readily; combatants have used in in SCA, ACL, and a modern combative.

SSG HISTORY

The SSG grew out of the first "tournament company," the Company of Saint George, in 1999. Since then we've hosted international symposia, tournaments, growing across the U.S. and into Europe. Along the way we've learned a bit!
