Museum Replicas Limited described this piece as being based upon an actual European spear find of unknown provenance. Given the leaf shape and flattened diamond cross-section, the owner guesses that the original would be dated to the later Iron Age (late Migration Period) to the early Medieval period.

The replica is forged spring steel, broad and leaf-shaped with a flattened diamond cross-section.
