Now wait a second, Robert. A little bit above, you said the shipping on the hawk cost three times what it cost to ship the Chen sword. Now your telling us it was twice as much.

i guesstimated, i had to look through my credit recipes for that...i'm in no mood for a lectures or bs like i got from people on SFI, i couldn't remember so i just made a punt at it (i bought the thing months back and a lot has happened since then).

evan the size you gave is pretty much right and same for the weights, but why do i feel the "third degree" right now :wtf:

I guess you're not safe anywhere, Robert. :)

Seriously, you've posted a remarkable bit of information that could potentially effect any of us. I'm not trying to play grand inquisitor here, but I would like to understand what this is about, and am so far unenlighted. No need for paranoia.

When you post something of this nature, then come up with a significant discrepancy in your account (and the difference between 2x and 3x is significant in this context), you can hardly blame someone for questioning.

I'm not doubting either you or Evan, mind you, but I was hoping to find a reason for what seems to me a ridiculous charge. I just can't imagine that everyone who ships a 10 lb package to Australia from the U.S. by UPS is being charged this much, but perhaps I'm wrong.
Just as a followup .....

When shipping off my CF coat of plates I asked what the difference in cost was between parcel & priorty mail , on this 15+ lbs box ....... basically Priority mail was $10.00 more than parcel post .

Robert

Relax , my friend ..... no one here is trying to give you s*#t .....

Scott was only trying to comprehend why the shipping was so expensive , and your previous statement did indeed contradict your later one, so it's totally understandable why he asked !

In the future when you "guesstimate" , about something, just be sure to mention that it's a guesstimate, not hard fact !
That will save you alot of headaches, and help keep the infomation that' s passed on as factual as possible .

Thanks , Mac
I agree mac, some may notice but i'm a little edgy lately (and have full reason too) and well i agree...and will make full not if i'm not sure on the exacts (it was hard enough finding the exact date i bought the thing to make sure of the price).
I just heard from Mark , whom I sold the claymore to, regarding the expensive package I sent , on 29 August ......

As of today, Monday, Sept. 8th, it still has not arrived !!??

Unreal .....

Considering the money I paid I should think the Postmaster General would have personally delivered it to Mark's door 2 days after I sent it !!

Dave got his sword , in Canada no less, last week , and I mailed that 2 days after Marks ?? !!

I know this has something to do with the over sized box , but really ...... Isn't that why I paid the big bucks ?

Heads will roll, I tell ye , head will roll , Mac

Hi Mac-

I shipped a sword to Germany last year via USPS Parcel Air Post and if I remember correctly it cost less than 1/2 of what you
paid going to TX. It arrived in less than 1 week.

I also shipped a sword to CA last year via USPS Priority Mail total cost with insurance was $16.69 it took almost 2 weeks for
this package to arrive.

I seem to remember calling USPS and they told me the "larger" or odd shaped packages are delivered when the carrier
has room in the van, truck or whatever they drive.

Granted, these weren't as large as your package but the price difference is stunning.

I wonder how much it would have cost to ship the package overnight air?

dave
The saga continues ......
I went to the post office and had them track the package ...... basically all they told me was that "It's on route" but they were not positive exactly where ! The postmaster said , as it was an "over-sized" parcel, that it was sent by truck, not air, and that it will have to be signed for !
He said it could be at the local post office depot , but it sometimes takes 2-3 weeks for these things to actually get to your door !

Of course I blasted him about the expense , and why did they not tell me that it was not going air , etc., etc., but they just shrugged ........ Grrrrrrrrrrr !

Anyway, the bottomline is that it is on route , just on the back of some turtle crawling it's way to Texas !

*Sigh* Mac
I feel your pain Mac.

The sword that I just recieved from Erik Stevenson took six days to go from Denver to Liberal via FedEx. I can drive that distance in six hours!
Good news (finally) ..... the sword arrived , Mark's happy, and Mac can breathe a sigh of relief !

A shipping learning experience, I suppose ! Mac
