As I describe Patrick on our myspace Jorvik Vikingr profile page, ' probably the finest swordsmith of his generation'.

Simply beautiful.

Are the decorations in the fullers (!) of the rapier cutouts or raised? I can't tell...
I really like the filework on the spines of the blade, a very nice touch.

That is amazing work; wow!

The decorations in the fullers are perforations (cutouts). Mr. Barta's work continues to impress and amaze.
These are spectacular,

I am happy to be on the waiting list. I am interested in how Mr. Barta does or does not apply any finish to the iron he uses (not stell iron in the hilt). Some of his swords have what I think of as a more typical gray slighly grainy look and some like his ring hilt celtic sword and others have iron componenents that appear more black.

Does anyone have any insight into this. Mr. Barta does not post but maybe someone with some knowledge on the matter can chime in.

Jeremy
