Swords of the Sassanid Empire
No one requested these, but they really caught my eye. If I recall correctly the Sassanid Empire was part of Persia/around that area?

These are extremely handsome blades, even in the sheath, and something any swordsman I think would love to have.

I can't seem to find the pic with the entire blade/sheath in the pic, but the design just caught my eye.

Just read the infocard photo and yes, Persia, 6-7th century.
Beautiful sword. Did you get any more pictures? I believe there also a few Sassanid swords in the British Museum too.

The Sassanid empire was a pre-Islamic Iranian empire which ruled Iran, Iraq as well as parts of the Middle East and Central Asia from around 220 AD to 650 AD. The Sassanids were famous for their heavily armoured cataphracts and clibanarii who were in many ways the predecessors of the Medieval Western European knight. They famously defeated the Romans several times and defeated and captured the Roman emperor Valerian. The Sassanid Empire was severely weakened by a 30 year war with the Romans in the early 7th century before being finally destroyed by the Muslim Arab invasion the mid 7th century. Later Arab dynasties like the Abbassids were strongly influenced by the Sassanids.
Thank you for sharing that picture! I just love the grips they had.

Here are some more pictures, I took these in the British Museum--the bottom one is the one pictured above (I'm glad you specifically got that one in close up, none of my pictures turned out for that one!). Apologies, my camera skills are atrocious.

These literally took my breath away. Splendid size, perfect for cavalry blades, gorgeous and unique grips. Very ergonomic for 1500 years ago!
