Well Jean, you got your $18.00 and I might be able to find a little more if my OT comes through.
'I saw young Harry, -with his bevor on,
His cuisses on his thighs, gallantly arm'd,-
Rise from the ground like feather'd Mercury,
And vaulted with such ease into his seat,
As if an angel dropp'd down from the clouds,
To turn and wind a fiery Pegasus,
And witch the world with noble horsemanship.'

By the way, I realize that somebody might win the hardcover edition of Records of the Medieval Sword and not want it. Perhaps the winner already has a hardbound edition or is perfectly content with the softcover. Either way, I have some extra books I can offer as a substitute. They're nothing groundbreaking or amazing, but it's an option.

Great now I have to send in $3 anonymously and complain again that the donated amount isn't a round number. Sad Sad Sad Razz

Or some other original " playfully annoying " way to encourage donations.

Well I wasn't expecting to win either when I won the dagger made by Tod's Stuff, but I sure was trilled when it happened and the dagger does have a special meaningful place in my collection. Wink Big Grin

Cheap easy " BUMP ", but I did get creative on the other Topic thread so go over there for a " giggle " well I hope it's funny and entertaining, I really hate doing the dull boring " BUMPS ", but it is really giving my creative writing a good workout: How many ways can one " encourage ' donations and not be boring. Razz Eek! Laughing Out Loud Cool

Here is a link to the other Topic thread ( Sort of evil and incestuous posting. Wink Razz Laughing Out Loud ):
http://www.myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t...p;start=30

Only $25 to reach $1900 but only one day to reach $2000 before the end of the weekend.

Copy/pasted from the other donation Topic to save some time as I have to rush out and go buy groceries. Wink Razz Laughing Out Loud

Anyone willing to put in $5 or $15 ( to be eligible for the prizes ) to get it past $1900.

After this still $100 to get to $2000.

Don't forget all the fun and pleasure you guys get from the site.

I do notice that many who are new members or longterm members who rarely or never post have stepped up to made a donation.

Some of the frequent posters who haven't donated yet should maybe consider doing so if their financial situation allows it. Those getting a lot out of the site should be more motivated to keep it going and also not let Nathan carry the ball of paying any of the hosting costs ! Nathan does this because he wants to do it but he spends each year at lot more than just the hosting costs but at least the basic costs of running the place should not be something he should have to worry about.

Oh, and just because some may feel that giving just $10 is not enough because they might rather donate more, but can't afford to give more, they should give that $10. Like I have said since the beginning if enough people give $10 it shouldn't be a burden for anyone not in seriously bad financial shape ! ( And I understand that many of you may be counting your pennies to pay for food or rent so my words aren't meant for them, only those who appreciate the site and can afford the $10 ).

Note: If people really can't afford more than $5, just donate that and it will help even if it is not enough to qualify for the prizes: Some of you do want to help and the prizes are just there to make the donation drive more fun and not your main reason to want to donate. ( If you feel embarrassed by giving just $5 don't be: It is appreciated as money but also because more people who take the trouble to donate is very good for Nathan's and my morale in having this place supported as widely as possible. If you feel uncomfortable with a small donation just do it anonymously. ).

BUMP

Oh, two days of no donations and still at $1895. Sad

A bit less than 2 weeks left to donate.

Skip one restaurant meal, one movie, a book, a magazine or a coffee and donuts and you easily have $10 to $25 for a donation. Wink

Or think of how much you spend on this hobby and activity, in collectables or books yearly and how little over a year $10 to support this site is small in proportion. ( As I have noted many times with this economy many of you have seriously cut back or stopped all unnecessary spending, so my appeal for funds are only for those in good financial shape ).

Well we where going fine for a while and are now at $2155 but it seems like the doldrums are back as the donations seem to have stalled.

I have bumped up the other Donation Topic but not this one in a while and since this one deals with the contest prizes and that we are at the second page of posts maybe some people are just reading the most recent posts and not checking the first post showing the prizes and conditions to win it would be a good idea for people who missed reading the first post by Nathan go back and check it out.

Remember that any cash not received i.e. missing the donation objective means that Nathan will be paying that part of the hosting fees from his own pocket. ( Actually he has already paid this years hosting in full so the donation money is just paying him back ).

The least we can do is minimize the amount of money Nathan has to spend each years keeping the site up and running considering all the time and work and other cash he has put in creating this site and keeping it running.

We are closing in on the last week before the end of the contest so if you intend to make a donation don't wait too long. Wink

$2400 so only $240 from the objective so I think we will probably reach the objective soon.

By the way knowing Nathan any extra money above and beyond the objective will just go back to the membership in various ways including continuing improvements of site features and the occasional contests. Wink Cool

Thanks again to all the donors and although I'm still going to bump up the donations Topics until the end of the fund drive I am trying to limit it so as to not just " bug " you guys will low value added posts with little or no new content. Wink Big Grin Cool

Hey everybody-

There are only a few more days left for this contest. Right now, there are fewer than 80 entrants and so the odds are really great to win this thing.

For those of you who are eligible but have not yet entered the contest, throw your name in the hat! The window is quickly closing

For those not yet eligible I ask that you consider giving a little something to the site. I'd really like the site to pay for itself. It did last year and I'd like to continue that trend, especially considering I'm going out of pocket for additional things like the Pay it Forward Contest.

Either way, to those that are entered I say good luck!

Someone donated .50 cents! How can this be? Do we really want a donation number that ends with .50 cents..? Only a few days left to even it out! Wink

Don't want to get greedy here but we are awfully close to $3000 which would be a nice round number and considering that Nathan added some new prizes in the form of gift certificates paid out of his own pocket again, it would be nice for him to come out even and have us help pay for the extra prizes.

And then again there is that troublesome .50 cents donation someone was " cruel enough " to donate ( or devilishly clever to donate to motivate more donations ). Evil Wink Razz Cool

Are people sure someone only donated 50 cents? Maybe they followed my suggestion to donate $25.50 because they like the collection galleries. Happy
