Now here's something fun--you can get a sense of how thick the blade is at the base by the depth of the fuller. Fairly robust...

But look at the taper down to the thickness at the cutting area. Amazing.

The British Museum is an awesome place to visit, though a bit exhausting (I'm sure it was a bit exhausting just scrolling through all these pictures! :D ). I've visited it about 5 times and I still don't think I've seen everything they have there. It's really something.

Any news on when the Staffordshire hoard will be displayed?

I recognize these gold-hilted swords. They belong to the Asante tribe of Ghana. Zach, if you read the Oct. 1996 edition of National Geographic (below) you will find such swords in the cover story Royal Gold of the Asante Empire.

do you have in your photoset warhammer? I was trying to find original picture from Wallece collection, but unfortunately there is not on the internet...

I was there last year in April, standing pretty much exactly where you are in many of those photos.

I stayed at the Radisun Blue which was just down the block from the Wallace collection, I even walked to the British museum from that hotel. I plan on going back, I love London. Wish my line of work was over there, I would move to London if I could.

I felt a connection in London that I just don't have here in the states. I guess I have a lot of old word still in my veins and I can feel it when I'm there.
