CNN reports that on Tuesday, a "right-wing historian and author" committed suicide at Notre Dame in Paris. The article identifies him as Dominique Venner, age 78.

Is this the same Dominique Venner who wrote Les Armes Blanches: Sabres et Epées in 1986?

The book's rear jacket flap describes him as "Historien, journaliste, expert dans les ventes publiques," etc.

CNN is vicious left wing propaganda. I don't recommond any person of European decent giving that network any time of your day.

They are pathological liars. Don't be fooled by the smiling commentators, they are not your friends.

That's entirely out of bounds and unsuited for this site. Reel it in, man. Reel it in.

Cry

He was an historian with a keen interest for military history, including the US Civil War.

What brought him to suicide has political motivations so it cannot be discussed here.

Whoever is interested to know a little more can PM me in private.

Isaac, Bruno: Thanks for confirming. I had not been aware of Venner's other work or the controversies around it.

(Christopher: I'm of largely non-European descent.)
