I got the chance to wear my 13th-C Polish soft kit around quite a bit during Halloween at my college.

(Pardon the anachronistic watch, I forgot to remove it for the picture. >_< I'm also getting a kaftan/svita/zipun made soon.)

Several pictures from my group's Renfaire Demo.
The first two pictures are from one of the bouts we did. I'm wearing the black gambeson and silver mask.
The fantastic shirt with the dagged sleeves was loaned to me by our group leader; and while it is awesome, wearing it has convinced me not to make that sort of shirt for my armor.
My sword is an Albion Sempach with scabbard and suspension by Christian Fletcher. The first two pictures are from one of the bouts we did. I'm wearing the black gambeson and silver mask.

Byzantine infantryman second half of twelfth century :)
Really like the Byzantine harness you have put together there. The torso armour is it like Dawsom's reproductions on leather bands or all attached to one leather chest section? Love the helmet!

RPM
Thanks :)
Not - is not the type of byzantine klibanion. This lamellars plates is reconstruction from Great Palace of Constantinopole dating end XII century. - normal lamellar arrangement - like in original find.
Eric Leonard.............Wow! That sword is amazing!!! You should start a thread just for it, to show it off!! That is kick-a$$!!!..............McM

Yeah, absolutely lovely!
I think it's based on the famous "Kolpak" helmet, now in a possession of the Kremlin Armoury

One of my most beloved Balkan helmets ever - I plan to make its replica someday.

#Patrick
Really lovely kit. Congratulations!
I like to see more and more reconstructions of Balkan warriors - have some feeling, this region is somewhat neglected, despite its full-of-events and uneasy history.
Thank you very much ! :)

No no. I have reconstruction of another byzantine helmet - found on south Ukraine (byzantine origin). 12/13century

I agree there is little people recreating Byzantium and the Balkans, a great pity : (

I've recently commissioned a helmet of a similar style to yours from Jeffrey Hildebrandt. :)

Yep, I remembered that one.
The main difference is in the upper half - yours (Ukrainian) is concave, while the other - almost straight cone.

BTW, could you give some technical info how it's made - one piece raising, welding and so.
White rose Coventry Sallet.
Mark Vickers Cuirass, arms, beviour, and pauldrens.
Gauntlets bought off Ben van koert.

Sweet rig!
Your gauntlets' maker is unknown to me, but I got them from Volodymyr Lunov who also refurbished them.
Not the prettiest kit I am sure here but it works for yield combat. Missing helm and gauntlets of course, which were removed by this point post fight.

Here's my kit in it's last configuration, with new double curved shield, the armet all kitted out and my new caparison. These are my favourite pictures from my not so busy 2013 season.

Here are some moving images of it in action as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qpi_njVoIzE

I'm very happy with how it all came together over the last five/six years, next progression: new better gauntlets.

i don't get to do medieval much anymore. Cowboy, WWI and WWII take up all the time I have when the family isn't doing anything

Not my era, Chuck. Sorry for the mistake. I see the difference in helmet style now. My bad. You could still turn coat and bust a few on some Nazi's though. USA ALL THE WAY, BABY............. ...........McM
