Who made your sabatons?

Sabatons are made by Miroslav Valenta, but I had to modify them a little to fit well. He also made the cuirass and the arm protection, and I didn't have troubles with them. There are much better armourers in the Czech republic I could recomend.

Metropolitan Museum italian sallet, riveted mail and some ribs addet to old cuirass, to make it more interesting.
The general idea is to reconstruct the look of 1480-90's condottiere from Venice. I'm using museum sources and paintings of the period.

Not wearing arms protection with mail because I was too lazy and, an the moment picture is taken, a have a broken arm - just went off the bohurt and it hurts.

Two first pictures are taken on L'Ultima Frontiera festival near Caucasus mountains this may and third on Border Fortess festival near St.-Petersburg last august.
The drawing should resemble hot it will look like when i'll be not too lazy to wear full gear.

Interested in opinions.

Well I've had a bit of luck with the last two shopping hauls and am now in a spot where I'd call my Yorkist Softkit complete. It is far from done - if I ever get to the point where I feel it is done at all - and I've already got plans (and open commissions) to expand and alter this kit.

But since it's in a spot where I'm very happy with it and I found some white roses along the way I usually walk the dog (who likes the heat even less then I do, at least this oppressive, stuffy heat we've had today) I thought the opportunity perfect for a couple of snapshots.

Me in my hand gunner kit looking grimey after a 5 days campaign. The dent in the chestplate is a souvenir from a dane axe swung at full tilt. Hardened Swedish steel! Börk börk!

Here is my recently finished hauberk I've been working on the last two years.

It is made of handmade wedge-riveted rings with varying wire thickness. It's thickest on the torso and thinner furher down and on the sleeves. Wire thickness before flattening was 2mm, 1,75mm and 1,5mm. Ring size is 9mm.

It expands from the waist down and has a frontal slit with overlapping ends and is closed at the back and has a change in weave direction on the sleeves.

The weave is very strong, the thickest part could resist a lance blow with a graper and had only one ring breake and without the rivet failing.

Finally I’ve got a pair of decent gauntlets to go with this kit!
I’m very happy with the current look, the next step will probably be pauldrons some day.

Nice armour Ben, looks very good. Well done on the joust at Arundel, it was a great tournament.

The armour is from Via Armorari. Hardened. The axe hit the center ridge of the breastplate so hard I had bruises on my hips and on my shoulders. The dent is a bit deeper than it looks like, but it definately is a functional piece of armour.

I'd be the fella in blue and bacinet and anachronistic gambeson. It's a start and everything but the helm and the hose will be changed for better thinga in the relatively near future. But hey, I've fought in armour ^^

My 13thC harness I have been playing with the last 6 months or so. This is new mail and helm with some older bits and pieces I have had for years.
