Today I received my copy of this fantastic book.
Wow.. Its such a beautiful book, all this paintings, drowing’s, pictures… fantastic.
Opening this book for the first time, brought back great memories from years past.
It a little story i like to share to discribe my feeling for this book.. i hope its ok.

Years ago i was on holiday in Suffolk. After some great days in the English countryside I totaly lost track of time and dates. It was a rainy day in autums end and i dicided to go on a pilgrimage.
After a 15 mile walk, across wet fields and crossing streams i set eye on my target. The little church of St mary the virgin in the village of Dennington. Entering the great wooden door(i think it was) i intered into a older world and for the first time i had a view at my old Agincourt Hero Lord Bardolf. I was wet tot he bone, but seeing this great tomb. It made me warm and a bit emotional.
On the way back it was raining again, but i thought of Agincourt and i was warm agian….
Coming home to the cottage I started a fire and put on the radio.. just as pushed the button the song ‘’ Non nobis, domine’’ from the Henry V started. It turned out the be the 25th of Oktober.

So manny years later and again a day of rain, i came home from a long working day in the mud.
There it was: the Book From Tobias Capwell.
Ofcourse i first cleaned my hands. And very careful i opend the book. And agian i had this warm and great feeling. Going through the pages of the book you are so close tot his great man of Old Britain.

Thanks you Tobias for sharing with us the long journey you made and still making.
It is fantastic being able to walk in your footsteps looking with a hawks eye at these great man and monuments of militairy power from ages past.

What a wonderful story. It's very moving and mirrors many experiences I have had in my quest through English churches across the country.

And it's interesting also that Dennington is about 10 mins from where I live in Suffolk. It's my local effigy, one I have visited many times, and which I too think of with special fondness. How interesting.

Just got mine today, and I'm from Slovenia (Europe).

Amazing book, useful even if you're not specifically interested in English armour, since it talks about differences between continental and local. I will surely buy the 1450 - 1500 when it comes out, and I'm hoping there will be sequels about Italian and German armours. And of course other continental styles... :)

Really happy how this has turned out! I saw Capwell's PhD thesis "The English style : armour design in England, 1400-1500" written in 2004, but this is so much better in every way!

That must have been a day to remember and to charish for the rest of your life.
It is fantastic how closse you can get into times past when you are outside in the nature, or living of the land and are able to feel the elements.(and with friends it is even better!)
would have loved to be there with you.

It would be great to be able to hunt agian with bow and crossbow….one day
If you ever plan to do this agian or go hunting on St Crispin’s day, please write me.. i wil be there!

I was going to post the same question since I'm anxiously awaiting my copy. :)

Waiting going on around here too.

I couldn't do a pre-order so waited till it was published. I ordered it from Thomas Del Mar and paid with Paypal. The book arrived today and it looks very impressive. If copies have started arriving in Australia, I would think that arrivals in other countries aren't too far away.

The books went out in three batches, sorted according to when the order was placed. The shipments went out as follows:

First batch – shipped 12th October

Second batch – 16th October

Third batch – 20th October

That's later than I thought. Sorry about that.

I'm advised that they expect the journey to take 10-14 days. So add that to the above and you have your ETAs. I don't however know precisely how you can determine which group is yours. Regardless, all copies should be in their new homes quite soon.
