For sale: Hanwei Paul Chen Cas Iberia reproduction of Scottish Basket Hilted Broadsword. Practical version. This is the well made Paul Chen version of the classic 'basket hilted' swords produced in the Stirling region during the eighteenth century. Hilt is beautifully proportioned in heavy steel like originals, complete with leather grip and red wool lining for the basket guard. Blade 32 inches long, maximum width 1 3/4 inches, overall length 37 1/2 inches. Comes with original steel mounted synthetic scabbard. The practical version was generally produced with black lacquer over the steel hilt/guard, but this has been removed and polished bright. Blade is well tempered and surprisingly flexible despite its thickness. Overall weight about 3 pounds, but well balanced and handles well. No nicks on blade, never used for sparring.
