Why not ask Fulvio? He usually backs up his designs with some kind of documentaion.

I did. He first created this design about 15 years ago and apparently didn't document it as well as he would have liked. He couldn't remember exactly.

In terms of Oakeshott typology terms, how would you all classify this one?

Nathan;

Maybe type XVI with very unusual fullers that seem close to the guard like deep hollow grinding with a thickening near the edge. The same fullers look more like true fullers to me as they get closer to the reinforced point. ( Not forgetting the narrow and short central fuller !? )

It does seem like at least some kind of mix of type XIV and XV that would define a type XVI Confused

Or maybe its just too different to easily fit in the Oakeshott typology: He might have easily created a new type seeing this one assuming that it is not a totally unique piece. ( Can there be a type if only one sword like it is known Question Laughing Out Loud )

You can easily give up your freedom. You have to fight hard to get it back!

Well, saying "it's a multiple-fullered Type XVI" is a valid comment and fits well within the intention of Oakeshott's system of typology.
