Opinions on warhammers/polearms
Im just curious to know and i have browsed the forums and all but i want a solid thread for it.
I am looking for a new polearm or hammer. I have looked at MusuemReplicas' foot soldiers war hammer and english hammer and wondering if they are good or worth the money, and what their quality is. Other sites for good hammers would be appriciated as well. Also on polearms what are some good sites to get them at at reasonable prices. Also id like info on how good they are... value if you will.

Thank you for your help :)
Arms & Armor offer several hammers and pole arms. They are all of high quality and historical accuracy. http://www.arms-n-armor.com

Lutel http://www.lutel.cz/index2e.htm offers historically accurate and well made hammers and pole arms. Their prices are slightly less than A&A.

Austin,
I've renamed this post to help people know what kind of information you're looking for.

I owned the MRL Foot Soldier's hammer. I returned it almost immediately. The cast metal parts were fine, but the haft was made of a wood that seemed very much like pine and not at all sturdy.

Disclaimer: This purchase was made 7-8 years ago. People who have made more recent purchases seem to be very happy with their polearms. Perhaps they've changed the wood for their hafts. If so, they're a good value for the price.
I have the newer version of MRL's German warhammer, not tried it out on too much of anything to test it though. Here are a couple pictures.

As noted in some other threads, A&A will also do customer pole arm designs, espcially if based on a histroical original.

Photos help! :D
Shane just had a look at your site and it is very attractively designed and worth having a look. ( Hint to everyone. )

Very interesting stuff. Had to bookmark it on my Mac :D

We do seem to be getting a lot of talented people making quality stuff contributing posts lately.

Don't forget the horseman's axe! It's pretty hammerlike in size anyway and it's an awesomely wicked piece of hardware...

I've the A&A Horseman's hammer & Poleaxe. Top-noch work

I've also bought & handled many Lutels. They are great deals, but the wait is propbably a few months.

As much as MRL's quality can be hit-or miss on some of their offerings, it's really hard to mess up an impact weapon. Their maces are generally pretty good, and I've handled the hammer Russ mentions. If you get one from MRL and it does have a softwood handle, I have some short pieces of Ash shafting laying around from making shafts for lutels. If you send me the old haft and a few bucks to cover shipping, I could probably re-haft one for you.

(Disclaimer - I am not about to go into the shaft business!) ;)

Nobody lasts long in that business. All their customers get shafted.
Thanks Jean.

So i did some lookings...thanks for the replies anyways everybody... and i came across the Hanwei GT 1076. This seems nice. What is the quality of this and is it a good type of wood ?? Also i was curious of the german halberd voulge from MRL and read up on it and heard it was pretty tasty in quality. Id like to know for sure if anyone has pictures of either of these or any other polearms they think they would like to share :).

Would be greatly thankful... im just curious because im new to buying. Ill learn quick ;)

Im going to buy soon and i cant think in school because i ponder weapons!
I have looked and done some decision making. Just have some questions about a few of these:

The price seems nice on that War Hammer, but is it nice. Ive read that the quality of Deepeeka is gaining some trust.

I posted this in a previous text but im still wondering if that is a good piece, and since i know a few people make that same looking polearm.

I dont think i need to post the link for this but the MRL German Voulge/Halberd... still wondering if its a nice piece, and how long it is?

I know ive asked many times but understand when i say i want some good homework done before i spend money on something :) Also thanks for bearing with me !
I think the Albion warhammer looks really cool, though I have not seen a single referene to it anywhere on this site. I wonder why?
I briefly owned the Deepeeka warhammer in the picture. Soft wood haft and the metal parts were made of aluminum, well put together as far as construction, but not what I was looking for. Hope this helps.
Thanks for all the replies everybody. Im still thinking about thinks lol. Ive come across some really expensive halberds that im ashamed to want because of price. Now i have no idea what i want. Im just gonna keep on looking. More imput would be ever helpful.

thanks
Here i am again. Ok here is the deal. Ive finally done up my mind with what i want. I want the MRL foot soldier's war hammer. it seems like a great price for a great looking weapon. How about it, what do you all think. I KNOW there has to be some of you out there who have it.
