Love it how things work! :D

What is that, about an 18" blade? It is a beast!

:) Almost double that. It's more of a beast then you know... but with a wicked distal taper and a projected weight of around 2 lbs.

As a side note it's about 30 inches long according to Jesse so I probably should be calling it a longseax?

Oops... posts crossed. Wow... that's about right if the tang is sword-sized.... I was assuming it was knife-sized, calling it a seax... Definitely a beast. Should be a neat piece, Russ! Jesse let any of the hilting details out of the bag yet?

... gee... I'm excited just about seeing it! :p
Woof, I walk in while the furnace is heating, and look what happens!

The blade is 30" of crucible L6, I'm going to figure out what to do about the furniture while it's martemperng.

Yeah, the blade weight right now is 1 lb 15 oz, it'll lose a little under an oz to scale, a couple from finish grinding, and the furniture should add another 6 or so, so that'll put us to right about 2 lbs.

This one does have a good amount of distal taper..... :)

So your furnace AND your ears are burning! Looks cool, Jesse!

Cool... can't wait to hear more about it - and how it handles. Also, I'm assuming Russ is already formulating a scabbard and suspension for it... eh?

But of course. I've decided that at least ONE of my sharp pointies needs a scabbard... I really need to see about doing some for the others but who has the time? All my scabbards go to other people...

... the cobbler whose children go unshod... the thatcher with the leaky roof... and Russ.

I'm not taking on any more commissions until I have remedied that issue for myself. I can't stand to see them sitting there patiently, knowing I can fix them up nice and proper-like. Probably will look at it again after the first of the year... 15-ish in the queue already...
