Albion Type M Breidox axehead...
Finally got the digital camera working, so I took some preliminary pictures. Sorry for the rough quality.

*For reference, my hand is approx. 7 inches long.

It looks like I'm going to have to special order the haft, though.
Very nice, says I. I like the reenforced cutting edge. My understanding is that the majrity of the head would be constructed out of iron, then a narrow strip of steel was welded onto the edge. This would allow the axe to be very sharp, very light, durable, and less expensive. Noone makes the body of the head from iron anymore, as steel just isn't that expensive, but the ridge is more authentic (for earlier period axes). Anybody heard of this? or is it Ye Olde Urbane Mythe?

BTW how does the quality look? I'd heard some negative reviews regarding the construction, but it may have been more of a QC/QA problem than a generally poor design. Something about a badly welded head. Any insight?
It looks pretty good quality-wise, but I can't guarantee anything until I get the haft on and see how well it holds up to some test cuts.

Like the sig, by the way. ;)
