So, has anybody gotten either one of these yet? If so, what are your thoughts? Do you have any photos etc?
Thanks,
Dan

P.S. And for the Scandinavians, any news on a DVD release of the first film?
Hel, YES
Of course there's a sword to be had, but be a good Heathen and buy the BAD GUY's sword. Like I did. Heh heh heh...
Hi Dan,there is no news on the dvd release yet.
I got the Arn sword today, and I should say it is a very beautifull, well balanced and agile sword. I feel as it belonged in my hand since ever.
Some could say it is a movie sword, but after handling and look at it personally you feel as it was found in a tomb yesterday in a pristine condition!
The costumer service from Soren was, as always very fine.
Godspeed
I did handle the Arn-sword at the Swordfish 2007 event in Gothenburg. And as said above it IS a real sword. Fantastic! With a newborn daughter it will be a while before I could muster the money for it though. :(
Yeah I second Dan Dickinsons comment!!!!

when and where can I buy the first film on DVD online!!!!???? I really want to see this film it looks awesome!

please tell me where I can get it!

ao unfair us dumb Americans dont pay better attention to good films like these...... :(
You will be able to buy the first film online on the 15-7-2008.
What is the word on the Blu Ray release?
the blu ray release date is the same as the mentioned 15-7-2008.

15 July it is, then. On the website Soren gave us?
This may be your dumb question of the week, but will it be subtitled?
As far as I can see there is nothibng mentioned on subtitles yet. All I know is of the Nordic release, but that should be the overall world release as well. So, by saiyng there should be an english subtitled version out at the same time.
Sorry :surprised :\ that post was worth nothing :) What I was triyng to say was that the release should have english subtitles,if not,the site from which you whould be buying the movie from should have stated it otherwise. Just make sure your version has everything you want. Until now the release is set to the 15-06-2008.

once again sorrry for the first post,

cheers
Nicolai
No worries, Nicolai. Thank you for keeping us informed. I'll be looking for it as it isn't yet on the Amazon website.

Thanks again,
Ron
Hi,

So far it only looks like "local" scandinavian versions being released (without english subtitles). A standard version, a special version and a blu-rey version. I am trying to get some official information and will post it here as soon as I get it.

Søren
Hello again :-)

On June 17th the swedish (and the norweigan) version of the first Arn movie will be released. The danish version will be released later...There will be a standard DVD, a limited edition (different cover ;-)) and a blu-ray version all released on the same day. Unfortunately none of these will have english subtitles :-(

At the moment this is only planned for the international version of the movie.

Best wishes,

Søren
:wtf: It's Region 2 (Europe) to, you guy's over there need to have a Regionfree DVD player to to watchs it,
 maybe a sword maker can import those DVD's for you guy's over there :D
Back to the sword, is there any difference in quality compared to an ordinary Albion sword? I noticed its not sold on the Albion web page, is there a specific reason for that?
I had a look at it at the "medeltids veckan" on Gotland and liked it a lot!
Sorry if I repeat any already asked questions, I just joined the forum.

Very immediate, quick answers... no to your first question, and yes to your second.

Longer, more thorough answers: The swords/knives and the scabbards/sheaths that we built for the Arn movies are pretty special. Arn's sword is every bit a real sword, carefully designed by Peter using his strong understanding of historic examples. It is heat-treated, ground and cutlered using the same techniques by the same artisans and with the same level of detail as any of the Next Gen line. Arn's scabbard was actually a full-on wood-cored custom period scabbard that was built with no corners cut, which again was a collaborative design effort of the director, Peter, and me, but based strongly on historic examples from effigies and art. The reason the sword (as well as Ulvsbane's sword, and Arn's dagger and scabbard/sheath) is not sold with the Albion Next Gen swords is that it was designed as a film sword specific for the Arn character, and is sold through the filmswords.com site in the US (and Canada, Mexico, etc.), and on the arn-swords.com site in Europe.

Arn's sword is going to be a very welcome addition to my own collection. While I certainly do have a strong attachment to it from my personal involvement with the prop project, I also like the piece apart from it, and feel it will fit right at home with my other earlier pieces from the Next Gen line. I actually do plan on training with it - some solo drills and test cutting. I expect it will perform quite nicely.

Hopefully this sheds some helpful light on your question...
