Rondel Dagger Suspension
Hello, all. I've run into a difficulty. . .

I am working on making a suspension for a rondel dagger owned by a friend of mine. She is a smaller person and the rondel for her pushes the length of a short sword. In any case, whatever I've come up with so far doesn't seem to hang right in that because the rondels make the weapon extremely pommel heavy, the weapon always wants to fall down and forward when suspended from a belt.

So, I was wondering if anyone could refer me to illustrations or a discussion of how these daggers were suspended in period so I can create a workable solution. My only other point of note is that a completely vertical setup may be difficult in that the rondels seem to want to be very uncomfortable on her hips and the draw angle gets kind of funny. . .

Thanks in advance :)
Hm... I hope these illustrations will help. You can counterballance the dagger with a heavy enough scabbard - shouldn't be too hard for a home project. Some wood, some vegetable tanned leather, wood glue and felt... And you can make it tight fitting, so that dagger will not fall out easily - so you can suspend it nearly horisontally.
