these are the things I bought last weekend:

A single edged ballock dagger from Tod's stuff.
A warhammer from Kasto.
An eating set from Kovex Ars.

It was a good battle with about 400 re-enactors on the battlefield.

It was a pleasure meeting Tod in person, and we aquired some very nice things from him as well.

It was a lovely weekend, with a great battle on Saturday. Unfortunately due to the heavy rain the battle on Sunday was cancelled. Here are some of the photo's taken with my camera:

I have just got back and had a great time, everybody very helpful and friendly and great to meet I think 5 forum members. I will definitley be going back next year. Thanks for the help Ben and friends, which really was essential as I was there on my own.

What did I get that weekend? A good and profitable time which is good combined with a bit of shopping and some good contacts. Less so was the flat tyre, the loss of my exhaust leaving the site on a speed bump, so tissue in the ears and windows open in case of fumes all the way back to Oxford and damaging the jockey wheel of my trailer on the soft ground. Anyway end of complaints. I didn't see much of the site as I was on my own, but what I could see showed that the level of reenactment was very high with excellent authenticity - reccomended.

I have to ask, did all of the rondels sell?

I have to say, that in a way, I'm glad that nothing like that is around here...I'm afraid I would be broke and divorced entiredly to quickly. :wtf: :D

When I saw the hard rain fall on Sunday in the afternoon I thought that Tod, being British, must have felt at home. As for those (deleted) warriors who cancel a battle because of some (deleted) rain, I wonder how they ever won the 'Guldensporenslag' (the Battle of Courtrai) if they are more concerned about their gear than their honour. I propose that next year they choose Tod as their commander in chief, I think he could play the part convincingly and he, at least, won't be afraid of a bit of rain.

I went to buy a ballock dagger and came home with one, and with a rondel dagger too. I didn't dare to ask about the messer-falchion, afraid as I was that I would have wanted to buy it. I had already bought more than I intended. I bought the ballock dagger on the right of the lowest row in the first picture. And the rondel is on the same row and also the one on the right.

I can start saving for next year.

Because the warriors at the Battle of Courtrai had to fight for their lives and most people in reenactment have dayjobs to return to when the weekend´s over... The cancellation was all about safety, not about gear getting wet..
Besides that, spend over €7k on a harness and we'll talk again.

And honour?? War is about killing people, I can't see any honour in that. My guess is that the people in the guldensporenslag were most concerned about their very own lives and that of their masters and relatives..

As a follow on to Nathan's request for pics of what you had before you sold it all, do you have some pics of what you still have? :)

I didn't care being on the battlefield in the rain this time, but then again, I had only a helmet to clean afterwards... ;)

One of the four, yes. :)
It was raining a bit too hard to use our first rescue plan to save our armour from the rain. We originally thought of taking one of the awnings along and to use it as an umbrella, but then it suddenly started to rain extremely hard. Then one of us conveniently remembered an image from a hausbuch currently in Leeds which shows soldiers crossing a moat or river wearing nothing but a thong, a sallet and a halberd, so we chose to go the battlefield dressed like that. We were quite giddy when we decided to do this..



Nevertheless we had a lot of fun, and I've found a good excuse to do my exercises again.. :D :D
