Here's my Celtic "Jockey cap." I added some leather cheek straps secured with rivets and I also decided to add (contrary to the archeological evidence of this particular style of helmet, but within the realm of reason/possibility) some feather holders.

Here are my helmets.

The first sallet I bought a couple of years ago at das Spiel at Essen. Don;t know how made it.

My second sallet I bought this year to replace the one above. It is from GCFB.

The last one is my celtic helmet from deepeeka. I added the horsetail myself.

Bumping this up because I've seen a few cool new helms here and there the past few months - how about putting some of them here too?

Well then, here is my kettle hat, inspired by the Morgan Bible. I posted it already in another thread, because I had no knowledge of this one. So mea culpa.

here is my new early 15th century helm, a grand/great bascinet. Rouglly based off of the one in Churburg Castle, but also using some effigies from the later part of 100 Year War.

I like that helm, gives me a few ideas of what I can do to my helmet, except I'd paint mine red and black with Templar sergeant stuff.

Hi Randall,
do you plan to apply a cross onto your macy-style helmet? You could paint it for show above the eyebrow with golden or yellow paint.

And to answer the question, which paint I used: It was acrylic paint. It's water based, so you have to apply some sort of primer first or you'll have to work fast on a really sunny and hot day. I didn't use primer and after ten minutes small red rust spots showed through the first layer of white paint. The day before was a very hot one, and there was no rust to be spotted while painting. Add some matte fixation spray in the end. Don't use any shiny paint, lacquer or varnish.

Thomas

I was going to put it on with brass work but have slowed down on it until I get my shop up and running. Prehaps I should paint it so it is at least done. I need to repaint it as it has taken some damage which chipped some paint off but did little other to the helmet.

This is my first reply on this forum and I just wanna say that all these helmets are really amazing.
Well, to continue the topic and justify the posting, there are the helmets of my group. Mine one was the top right one.

Now I'm reforming it and its looking like this by now

I just changed the lower part of the spetacles. The visibility stills good.
And now it's harder. The lower part is now 2mm and it continues through the noseguard, making it 3mm instead of 1mm as it was before.
I just need to make the lining and attach the mail, so its ready for battle again.

And, this one is a helmet I made for sale, but liked so much that I just use until the other is ready:

The noseguard is too long at this photo, I know. I cutted about 4cm of it and now its nice.
It's not raised from one piece, as I'm not good enough to do it, but, for my first attempt with eletric welding, I liked the results.

Hope you enjoy it. See ya ^^
