On the new Irish sword,
Will the hilt package be the same on the planned hand and a half,
How much detail will these hilts be sporting,
Do you know which blade you will be using,will it be one already shown in the lineup,

I´m still working on the hand and a half, so there is not much detail tyo reveal yet.
It is coming along, but needs a little more work untill it can be presented.
I´m thinking that the hilt will have different hilt components. The pommel obviously needs to be different. A ring but a different one.
The cross I´ve not decided about yet. We will see.
The blade will obviously be longer than the single hand, but the goal is that the hand and a half shall be a slim and nimble one.
The blade width will be about the same as the single hand (42 mm) but it will be longer. How much longer is too early to say yet, but around 90 cm give or take a few cm.

I'm so glad to see this change form the normal Type XIX blade! This is a sword model I've wanted to have for quite some time. I imagine it will be a blast getting this in-hand to see what can be done with it.

I realize this sword is not to be an absolute replica of the "Alexandrian sword" - for one thing, the pommel is different. But I am curious if you have plans to approach the extremely light weight of that original: 1 lb 11 oz or 765 grams.

No, this one will be heavier. Not much, it will still be a slight and slim and agile blade but more "user friendly" and less specialized. A broader, thinner and wider blade is also easier to find other applications for. My guesstimate is that the XIX single hand will be mounted in swords that will weigh in around a kilo or so. Please note, this is just a guesstimate at this time, some hilt styles are heavier, while others are lighter. As the blade will be used for several different styles there will be a diffference between the lighter and heavier swords even if the blade is the same.
After much consideration we deicided that the "Alexandrian" blade was too extreme in its slightness. There will be at least two XIX blades: one single hand blade that shall fullfill the role of late medieval and early rennaissance C&T swords and one hand and a half blade to meet the demands of early 16th C bastardswords (Irish bastard and German style bastard, maby followed by others later on). It might also be the case that a longer, slimmer single hand XIX blade will be developed for the early single hand C&T swords with developed hilts. Those swords demand longer, more narrow blades of light weight but sturdy and stiff spine.
If we went for a blade that was close to the "Alexandrian" XIX there would be a number of limitations. Also we would find that many made direct comparison to the "original" sword in the Royal Armouries in Leeds (as this is not the object of the design it is better to make a number of clear deviations so there will be no confusion about the intent) also the exteme lightness andf slimness of that sword is a limitation when other swords are going to be built on the same blade.
The Next Generation swords are not intended to be copies of single swords. That is for the museum line. If we sometimes in the future want to make a recreation of the "Alexandria" sword it is better if there is not a blade in production that is close but not quite. Close but not quite is no fun.
