Ah a topic close to my heart. I'd say we have some pretty interesting pieces here in STL land, perhaps not as indicative of martial europe as some other institutes, but still enough to whet the appetite. It's too bad that many of the pictures of the various firarms don't show up because they're for the most part incredibly intricate and beautiful, really amazing craftsmanship.

I've seen this feature on some other two-handers, but in this case, it may be perspective distortion. That second sword photo, in particular, looks like a distorted photo. Look how small the hilt is. A lot of care must be taken when photographing objects to avoid distortion..

Who knows, though? As I said, I've seen photos and one example in-person of a Zweihander with a very distinct swelling at the tip, resulting in a wider blade at the tip than at the base.
