From what I've read there was a flat ring wedge riveted coif found in a church tower that resembled the indian made wedge riveted maille you find these days same degree of flatness as well.

Not sure what century it was from though, from what I know flat rings came out in the 13th century while wedge riveting started being used in the 14th century and only in Germany.

I got a close up look of the maille coif at Tofta church 2 times last week as we had our tent set up within walking distance. Yes it looks very much like the rings my Indian maille shirt. In my opinion, I can now wear it and say that there are sources that shows that it's a valid interpertation of medieval maille.
