I always wanted a good Smallsword, doesn't have to be Colichemarde blade. My previous one was made by hanwei, very heavy,
I'd like to get an A&A Viking Spear and maybe an Albion Reeve. If the right one was available, I'd grab a sword from Old Dominion Forge.
Gotta git me some of a H/T Viking. Life's too short to not have a sword that can take me through an un-doored wall in my house. If the Viking is near as badass as the Norman, which I used to own(thanks, Ian H.), then it will be the last sword I need.(Yeah....As if.) ...........McM
It's great to see so many folks with custom projects in the works!
I have a custom sword in the works but honestly part of my list is selling some of my swords.

I have some duplicates, and a few I no longer like.
I would like to get an Albion Stamford, A&A Danish axe and A&A type L axe. I have been in contact with some smiths about commissioning some axes and spear heads.
In 2014...... I've been eyeing Lutel's Scramasax no. 11009 recently, and will likely order one early in 2014. After that I'll need to move into the "possible" territory. I sure wish I could seriously consider a custom project, but that's quite unlikely. More possible would be an Armor Class hand and a half Highland sword, if they would ever get off back order..... I'd quite possibly rather have an Albion Caithness instead anyway. Any further discussion moves into definite wish territory, and I could start dreaming of multiple Albion's, several A&A's, and custom projects. I'd truly love to own both the Jarl and the Chieftain, and the A&A Irish sword, but if I'm in wish land I'll go for a custom Viking sword project from one of about a half dozen makers I'd consider to produce either a migration or viking era pattern weld blade in full regalia furniture. One day, but not that likely in 2014......
Type XVII.11 w/ hex blade from Albion Swords
I was in the market for a two handed words with parrying lugs, have been for a long time - for what I want custom is probably the only way to go. BUT, opportunity presented itself in the closing months of summer of a blacksmithing school only miles from my home that I never knew about teaching everything from pattern welding - to the basics. if everything with my job holds out I will hope to attend at least 2 classes this summer.

as I hold off on a major new sword purchase, in my own little knife shop, I'm hoping to complete a hunting trouse set with a big bad beuernwehr, picker and by knife. I plan to start as soon as I get this other stuff off my work bench - maybe after Christmas.
I'm having a bastard sword finished, I have a couple other projects to wrap up as well, and I think I'm going to start a new soft kit. I also really really want a forge.
I think I may also have to bite on a Cold Steel Viking axe....the big one. I plan on doing some custom touches to it. Carving, runes, leather wrapped haft.....It'll be sweet...... :D .........McM
Nice to read what are on fellow forumites wish lists & commission lists. As most members have European flavour on their lists, I'll bring in the oriental.

I have only 1 purchase I'm really planning to make in 2014. I'm after Nambokucho or Muromachi era blade that will fit to my liking. There are several antiques which I follow closely, and I'm hoping to be able to get one of them to my collection.

And if a cheap antique katar will pop up somewhere, and I like it, I might go for it.

I should be getting a custom order from Chinese forge I made earlier this year. I made an order of budget sword for which I tried to replicate Muromachi era katateuchi with the options offered by the forge. I'm kinda excited too see how it will be.
Well to celebrate an important birthday of mine I plan on ordering my very first commissioned piece.
I am thinking of a pattern welded seax. There seems to be quite a few good makers out there but I think I have my eye on one who gets the curves just right as to me many repro seax miss out the graceful curves of the originals.

Any recommendations? :)
I plan to forge myself a couple of glaives soon. One blunt for the field and one sharp for the sheer fun of it :)

Lovely project, hope to see it posted. I just love pole arms!
For me 2014 will be a case of focusing my collection. As much as it pains me, viking era arms are going out, and high medieval and renaissance weapons stays. Hope to make a couple of additions or exchanges. Ahlspiess would be nice, and I might have a messer up and coming..
Greg...,.You be sure to give us some in-progress shots of your upcoming glaive project! That will be waaaay cool! :D ......McM
If I manage to pull enough money together, my 2014 purchase will be either an Albion Knecht or a Crossbow from Tod. That is a big if. Most likely 2014 will be a saving year.
Second that on a crossbow. I've come to find I'm a decent shot, with little practice. :wtf: Also have my sights set on a custom sharp claymore from BKS. Since my wife lost her job of $1000 a month, my collecting days may be on a brief pause. I'll get back in the ring to take another swing, though. .......McM
I wasn't planning on anything in 2014, but.... :)

It looks like I'll buy a knife from Arma Bohemia, the funky one with the brass handle that looks like an arrow shaft with fletching. I also have two projects in the works with Josh Davis. The first is underway and looks great so far. The second will be a huge challenge for him (tons of detail) and is something the community probably hasn't seen before.

While I could let you guys in on what Josh is working on, I'll let them be surprises. :) The first piece should arrive in mid-August, the second later in the fall.
I'm also looking at some plate armor for the ren-fests. My mom recently passed, and I inherited a butt-load of cash.......soooo........Let's see what happens. No sympathy messages, please. She was 84 years old, in very bad health, and ready to go. She's having a glass of mead with my dad right now in the Great Hall. :D .......McM
