A lot of it in private hands, as the lower end stuff only shows up in smaller museums that need a little for a specific display purpose, such as the National Museum of the American Indian (big museum, small European armour display) or Albany, NY's own New York State Museum. Mostly limb armour and helmets. I am working on a peascod breastplate right now that is pretty dented up, but I suspect it did time in the 'gioco del ponte'.
