For sale is a replica of a 9th-10th century Viking sword with scabbard made by the Deepeeka, one of the newer, better quality, more historically accurate of their reproductions. This is their 'Primus' model, based on an original in the Danish National Museum, Copenhagen (also illustrated). It has a solid antiqued bronze hilt - guard, grip and pommel - done with well detailed faceted ornament and twisted wire decoration. Scabbard with wooden core covered in stitched leather. Scabbard mouth, chape, and slide embellished in classic Viking animal interlace ornament in real bronze with antiqued finish like the hilt. Single fullered blade is 31 1/2 inches long, max width 1 7/8 inches, overall length 38 inches, weight about three pounds. Point of balance 4 3/4 inches. Blade is well tempered and flexible, edge not sharp. Sword is in excellent condition with no nicks on the the blade, never used for sparring or re-enactment combat.
