This Tsuba is mounted on a 1st generation ShigeTaka Wakizashi, cannot nail it to a period or school, any thoughts?

With the copper inlay/overlay/whatever it actually looks more late edo-ish to me. The rim style and piercing feels like an older design but maybe made later? But the piece has clearly seen some damage -- notice the corrosion over all surfaces. Fire, submersion, or maybe an intentional aging (poorly done)? Kinda hard to say. I must say that it gives me a number of mixed messages. So really, ultimately, the answer I'll give is...

I have no idea.

Not a clue.

:p

Which just goes to show I don't know nearly enough about tsuba... Sigh. So much to learn, so little time...
FWIW there is a tsuba up on the http://ricecracker.com site. Look under tsuba and find the one with the pierced design showing ginger. Very similar in execution, design, shaping, mimi style, etc. They date that one as late edo with no other attribution. Just fwiw.
