Michael-

The Landgraf with the gothic wrap on Christian's website is mine! I chose that grip because of a sword in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC that looks very similar to the Landgraf but has a half wire grip. I'm glad to see how much you like it! I still love mine too! Enjoy!

Then your commission was the source of inspiration! It was the picture on the site that started me thinking.... Glad to hear it is still a prized possession!!
Congratulations. I will echo the comments of others that the gothic treatment seems a good way to go on the Landgraf.

I'll be odd-man-out here. There is something I can't put my finger on that I just don't like. Perhaps the grip should be more hock-bottle shaped. The standard grip profile seems to have been kept, and the lines look a little odd to me.

I'll have to respectfully-disagree here...

From the photos I've seen, on both Albion's website, and the reviews in myArmoury.com, the standard grip has a pair of bands at the center that created the illusion of an awkward swell in the middle of the grip that, though subtle, really threw off the lines of the sword, at least in my eyes.

If anything, I think Christian's grip actually succeeded in smoothing out the lines of the hilt, in context of the blade, anyway...

I'm certainly not an expert aesthetician, but my mind is pretty specific on what it believes "works" and what doesn't.
