I have a MRL (Windless) sword. It’s the “Sword of Patay” model. Anyway I recently learned that these swords have a lacquer coating over the blade and hilt fittings. I guess that’s way there so shinny.

Now I would like to remove this lacquer to dull down the sword’s looks. So how should I go about this and what should I buy to remove the coating? BTW I am a complete newbe to edged weapons (or wall hangers as it may be)

Check out Sean Flynt's article on "Antiquing" in the FEATURES section of this site. Sean
give's good advice for such a task, having done it myself a few times on my MRL peices.
