'Green Man' armour.
http://www.tyrrell-armouries.com/helmets/greenman.htm

Tried to find the effigy its based upon but could not locate it. Odd armour indeed..
Looks like a hybrid borrowing mostly from a classic sallet, but with an onion top! I wonder if the original was based on expecting to be used both for mounted and foot combat?
The onion topped bowel is I believe refered to as "Flemish" or "Franco-Burgundian" when used for a sallet. I don't think they're very common as I've only seen one or two originals of this form (theres one on page 9 of "European Helmets,1450-1650 Treasures fron the Reserve Collection" from The Met).
Accordiging the site hosting the armour, they say:

"Constructed for the Royal Armouries from an effigy located in Puddletown, Dorset. England"
