Hi all,

I read in Paul Wagner and Mark Rectors' book Highland Broadsword a reference to basket hilts being made in Inverness and these having recogniseable feats just like the Glasgow, Stirling and Edinburgh schools. Does any one know how these differed from the others? Does any one have any pictures? I am interested in knowing this since the clan which I have a few drops of blood from comes from a small area near Inverness. Also because the other cities/towns where basket hilts in Scotland were made all are in the lowlands, whilst Inverness ("the Highland capital") is in the Highlands...

Hi Henrick,
no pictures but I have some names to look for. These are people who are listed as armourers in Inverness in the early 1700's in Whitelaw's book.
