The "Pirate's Companion" looks like a combination of a few 19th century cutlasses. In general it looks like the US M1860 naval cutlass (blade shape, large brass bowl guard), but its (hexagonal?) grip and pommel hearken back to the early 19th century French cutlasses that inspired the US M1860 (these had iron hilts and grips, painted black). So it falls well outside the "Golden Age" of piracy, in my opinion.
