Thank you to all those who have donated during this impromptu donation drive. It really helps. You've no idea how much...

Anyway, I'm quite busy these days so I often only have a few minutes for anything lately, but I wanted to quickly say that any person involved in this donation drive who's donated $10 or more will be automatically entered into a contest.

This means that any new donations coming in will put you into the contest. Any donors who have already donated in this donation drive are already entered.

The prizes will be books and another surprise or two. If the donation drive goal is reached, I'll even throw something really good into the mix. The current donation drive results can be seen at the bottom of the forum index.

I'll announce details in the next few weeks as I find the time.

There are currently only 25 donors. I'd love to see this number reach 100. Thanks to everybody who's already participated.

Nathan,
That is very generous of you! Thank you. Now, if that's not enough added incentive to give, I don't know what is. Let's keep the momentum going!

Haha:
1. Nathan puts in huge work-hours on the site which we get for free
2. Jonathan Hopkins starts an early donation drive to give people a chance to pay back some tiny portion
3. Nathan gives us more free stuff
Awesome.

I'm driven by guilt. I don't know why, but that's how it goes.

I also put in a bunch of hours to get the production completed for the next 6-8 months worth of content (monthly updates) with more coming. This ensure a steady stream of content for the foreseeable future of the site.

Nathan: Let us know how the cat is doing. Worried

I'm not a cat person, as far as owning one, but I seem to get along well with the cats of friend. ( Even cats that usually don't warm up to strangers ).

Well, the contest is a great idea and appreciated. As far as guilt is concerned you really shouldn't be embarrassed by donations considering all that we members get out of the site which included friendships as well as information.

Got his test results about an hour ago. He's good to go to move forward. He's not sick. He just needs to get two teeth pulled and all of them cleaned. In cats, this requires anesthesia so is sort of a big deal which is why it's as costly as it is. Once that's done, he'll be good as new and whatever mouth infection is going on with him will go away. However people feel about pets or cats specifically, I've had this guy for 12 years now so he's a fixture in my life.

Being a double cat owner myself with a pair of 9-year old twins, I wish you and yours the best. I just had to go through a senior workup for one of mine...$400 later the good news is she's healthy as can be. The bad is I could of bought a sword with what this is costing me. ;-)

Just noticed after a few days of no activity that some new donations have just come in and that the amount is now over the midway mark.

So, here is the usual bump just to keep the topic disappearing to page 2 in the posts chronology and thanks again.

Remember that small donation are O.K. don't avoid making a contribution just because you think $5 is too small an amount. Wink

I don't know if there is a minimum amount that is practical as a Paypall contribution where some minimum handling charge would cancel out the donation ? But even $1 would be an O.K. donation if large numbers of people would do it.

Obviously if someone really rich or just won a large lottery prize want to go the other way with a ridiculously large contribution I'm sure that Nathan would deal with the " guilt " and accept the gift graciously. Wink Laughing Out Loud

Now THAT is a cool prize and a cool way to run the contest. Alright all you slackers. Pony up some cash already. Friggin skip lunch tomorrow and throw 10 dollars in the hat. Most of you all could stand to lose a pound or two anyway. Wink

Seriously guys, we all love this place, and NONE of us have put the work into it that Nathan has. I think every single one of us can afford to put something into this place be it ever so humble.

Wow, nice! I was going to donate purely because I wanted to post a silly picture in this thread, per Jean's request. Happy I'm not even kidding about that! I just moved, and I want to make sure everything is settled first, which should be soon.

My initial donation was due to the desire to see this sight continue. The work Nathan and others (lots of you!) have done here is a treasure to me. That being said, I think the contest is a good idea, and I may very well contribute again out of sheer greed Happy
