Hi guys, here is my interpetation of a viking chief with me with a historically correct made Gjermundbu helmet the only helmet from the viking era ever found here in Norway, the mail shirt is correctly made with rivited rings, the sword is a reproduction of the Åkra sword found near me here in Haugesund
The shield is based on the shields found in the Gokstad ship grave, the broadaxe is a copy of the Langeid axe, I’m sitting on a norwegian horsebreed called «Dølshest» or farmhorse

Hope you guys like it

Joakim Steinsn,

Looking phenomenal! Well done! Skal! Especially points for historical acccuracy with the riveted byrnie and all the other correct points for holistic efficacy. The horse, the hard and soft kit of your panoply etc., etc., etc. Bravo! Valhalla awaits!

Cool

Best regards,

That website says: "Modern Historians theorize that the invention of horse stirrups gave birth to Feudalism in Europe.
The use of stirrups paved the way to the birth of Knightly class that created the vassalage system where Kings in Europe granted nobles land titles. Under a Feudalism society during medieval ages, nobles held lands from the Crown in exchange for service in the military."

That isn’t the actual consensus. The theory caused the "Great Stirrup Controversy", which not only questioned the relevance of stirrups for shock calvary, but also the ideas around feudalism.
