Hi,
I'm Walter Stockwell. I make knives and am slowly working my way up to swords. I love swords and knives. I'm currently practicing rapier fencing, and have in the past done some iai and tamishigiri.

My collection:
Mostly things I've made -- I'll give anyone a deal from this forum. :)
Two atrims -- a heavy XIIa, a light sidesword type.
A Howard Clark L6 katana. As of yet unmounted.
A Bob Engnath katana. Unmounted.
A nice iaido.
Paul Chen practical rapier.
A few fencing foils and sabres.
Barry Dawson wak (yes its 440C and no it doesn't suck.) :)
Some nice knives: Vince Evans dirk, Jim Batson damascus bowie, Dr. JPH viking dirk in cable, . . .

Interests:
Currently interested in sabres, kukris, bolos, kopi(?) -- large cutting blades.
Hello
Im Tom Carr from Mesquite TX. I have a CS Grosse Messer, and heavily modified MRL swords, Medieval short sword, modified and Japanned Culloden Baskethilt, modified Irish single hander, modified Ulrich longsword, and a totally transformed United Viking that is now a hand and a half. Very sweet cutter I might add. I am working my way toward being a sword fabricator, when money allows the proper tools. I hope to start a small sideline making scabbards for sale on the web also.

My name is Jim Post and I'm from Madison, Wisconsin. I am a practioner and collector both, although the collection is in its infancy.

I have:

A del Tin long sword, 14th century;
a Chen long sword, practical;
a Chen arming sword, practical;
a Chen rapier, practical;
a Chen mortuary, practical;
a Windlass coustille;
an Alchemy fencing rapier and dagger set;
a Popinjay saber;
several German and American bayonets;
and I'm building a smallsword from Triplette furniture and a cut-down chen practical rapier blade.

I practice Western martial arts, concentrating on German swordmanship with a touch of Italian and Italian rapier. I'm moving into English sword and buckler. I also work with sword and shield through pole arms, 12th to 16th c. And I love every minute of it! :lol:

Oh, almost forgot, I have several wasters and shields and etc. and am now making my own wooden weapons. Axes are first on the list, followed by halberds and poll axes/hammers and then long swords and arming swords. Gotta make this thing pay for at least part of itself.

Jim
Lol now here's one thread that really took off. The more the merrier. :)

I'm Russ Ellis, owner sole proprietor, and also only worker for Tritonworks Custom scabbards. At this time my collection consists of assorted Arms and Armor pieces, a Cold Steel Grosse Messer, an Albion Crusader and three customs 1 from Arms and Armor, 1 from Al Massey and 1 from J.P. Hrisoulas.

I too am more of a collector then a user.
I am Felix Wang. My main interest is military history, with both collecting and practice directed towards understanding pre-gunpowder combat.

Atrim Basic Bastard Sword (from Albion)
Atrim type XII (Albion)
Atrim type XIV (Albion)
Atrim type XIIa (Albion)
Atrim Banneret, with a stepped grip (SFI Museum store)

A & A Shifford Viking, scabbard by Russ Ellis

Assorted wasters, a steel buckler by Patrice Lemee, and a few shields I have cobbled together myself (bosses from Therion Arms). And a huge stack of books, all of which I mean to read someday.
I'm Bill Grandy. Interesting side note: If you go to Taco Bell and order a "Nachos Bill Grandy", they'll serve it to you.

My collection (in it's current state):
A&A Bavarian rapier
A&A German Bastard Sword
An old XIIa Albion hilted ATrim with 12th century scabbard by Eric McHugh
An ATrim Phat Bastard

Hanwei Practical Rapier
Hanwei Practical Plus Katana (that's all the practicals out of the way)
A couple foils, sabers, and epees
A bunch of wasters

I think that's it... sword-wise, anyway. Have a few other related weapons like a Windlass pole-ax, for instance, as well as a couple bucklers, a rotella, some plate and maille, a bascinet, etc. Lots of WMA stuff. The collection is in a constant state of change, as I've been selling off some of my swords recently to acquire new stuff. Have gone through a whole lot of Hanwei stuff, and quite a few ATrims.

My collection is heading towards more high end production European swords. Favorites being 15th century longswords and 17th century rapiers, though there are many other styles I wouldn't mind owning. In addition, I want to own [at least] one original rapier someday, and [at least] one longsword. I also am always looking for new WMA training equipment: My main areas are German longsword and Italian rapier, though I do other styles, such as French smallsword, and German sword and buckler (I.33 stuff mostly).

On the way to me:
A&A Italian Rapier (thanks, Nathan!)
A&A customized German Rapier

Hi All,

My name is Kurt. I am a student here in Canada who will be graduating soon. My sword collection is very small consisting of an ATrim EKS, Bugei Bamboo and a Heimrick training blunt (plus wasters). I practice WMA and as such my interests are primarily longsword, dagger and poleaxe (and hopefully sword and buckler!). My future direction for my collection is to collect primarily custom sword and dagger sets from all cultures. My next anticipated sword (and dagger) will be from Kevin Cashen but that wont be ready for another 1-2 years. I will be looking for something to fill the void hopefully in the near future.

Kurt

PS- thank you for this great contest!

My name is Stephen Pearson, I live in Washington DC and I'm a Beltway Bandit (consultant). I'm more of a collector than a practitioner, and my love of swords dovetails nicely with my love of military history. From a sword collection philosophy perspective, I'm collecting the swords of my personal ancestry: England and Scotland. That's obviously a great deal of history to cover, so I'll be collecting for a while. :)

I currently own:
- Atrim/CF XIIa
- Armorclass "S" Baskethilt
- Albion Fulham Gladius

On the way:
- Albion Vinland Viking

Hello
My name is Shaun Swanner
I hail from Birmingham, Alabama. I am a graphic designer. I have always had an interest in swords and all bladed weapons. I have just recently been able to purchase a few swords, wallhangers mostly. With prices so high and wanting so much I have started to make my own swords. Hobbies: Swords/knife making, woodworking and home improvement.

Collection:
(semi-wallhangers)
Sword of Dracula
Ulric sword (knights tale)
Scottish Baskethilt

(Wallhangers)
Muskateers sword
El Cid (cheap junk! $14)

(hand made by me)
gladius (interpretation)
Falchion/Grosse Messer

Collecting interest:
Any bladed weapon I would like to have. I look forward to eventually getting a nice Angus Trim sword. Until then I am concentrating of constructing my own swords.
Hello! I'm Sean Flynt in Birmingham, AL. My current collection is as follows:
• Modified MRL "Culloden" basket hilt
• Modified MRL "German Falchion" (a terrible misnomer)
• Modified MRL "Scottish Backsword"
• Custom Alchem Pappenheimer practice rapier and matching main gauche (currently up for sale or trade)
• Modified generic Cabasset ($10 at TJ Maxx, if you can believe it....)
My archaeologist-wife's collection includes:
• MRL "Maintz" gladius
• MRL anthro. hilt celtic sword
• MRL lorica segmentata
• MRL Roman trooper's helm
• CASI pilum
• One of the lovely new pugio's offered by Albion (shhhhhh....she doesn't know it yet!).

1650 would be dead center in my spathological interests, with interest falling off somewhat a century before and after that date. I'm fascinated by all of this stuff, however. I'm especially interested in infantry weapons, including swords, axes and polearms. I really NEED an18th c. infantry hanger, and I'd love to have a good Anglo-Scottish basket hilt of the rieving era. The hanger is a good bet for early 2004, and I'll antique it as I have all my other replicas. I just can't leave 'em alone! Uh...correction...if I win this Albion I won't change a thing about it. It's beautiful!
Mike Fletcher here. I live in the foothills of northern California with my wife and four children. I am a Program Manager for a non-profit that helps people with disabilities live independently in their community.

I started out with a distinct prefernce for single-handed knightly swords, but as I have studied historical edged weapons over the last couple of years, my interests have expanded and I would like to eventually have a collection that represents many types of swords from many time periods and regions - as well as representative works from many different makers. Although my collection is currently quite small, I consider myself more of a "collector" than a "user" (although every fall I do end up having to defend hearth and home from hordes of malevolent pumpkins :lol: )

I currently own:
Albion Acre with Art Elwell scabbard
A&A Classic Medieval dagger

That's it.

Regards to all,

Mike
well, my name is Xavier, I'be been interetsed in swords all my life- i was the kid who used to steal neighbours' trashcan lids and use broomhandles for swords. I practice European swordsmanship, and am interetsed in pre-18th C. military history. particularily the Dark Ages and the transitional period, though I lust after sabres.

My swords are:

Isenfang, a pattern welded Hanwei godfred sword;
Brightfang, a tri-lobe pommel, curved guard type X from Paul Binns
Longtooth, a 24" bladed Saex from Paul Binns
Greed, a cheap, heavy bearded axe on a three foot haft that my lady wife detests...
Freki a smaller axe on a longer haft, from Paul Binns
Segadora, an executioner's sword by yours truly
countless aluminum and wooden wasters that litter my house, annoy my wife and amuse my son...

My interest in swords is both aesthetic and martial. I love the way a well-made sword looks. I also love swordfighting. guess that works out :D
