A closeup of the shell guard, blade , & inscriptions, on the Cameron of Lochiel claymore , c. 1588.



Claymore, crafted in 1588. This two-hand sword belonged to Allan Cameron, 16th Chief of Clan Cameron,
who led his clan in support of Huntly and Errol against Argyll at the battle of Glenlivet, in 1594.
The sword was captured by the Aberdeen Wrights and Cupars Guild around 1800, but was later returned
to the Clan Chief.
