I know this is swiss but does anyone have a year for it?

Morgan, I think we need an expert to determine this sword's model and year.

According to OldSwords.com it is probably the Swiss M1867 infantry officer's sword.

I had come to that conclusion as well. I also saw a model that had the fixed belt clip on the back ala WW1. This one didnt, having the 2 rings, so I assumed it was closer to 1867. But this was a beautiful sword. Nice short 28 inch blade. And that broadened tip! Beautiful. It reminds me of something John Carter of Mars would use.

Not actually, but close. At the last minute I put in $625, even though I said my French Mounted Artillery sword was my last buy for the decade. I was a little bit releaved to be out-bid by another 75 bucks. So it went to some fortunate buyer for $700.00. But that was one hell of an interesting weapon. I wonder how it handled? However my inspiration for this thread was not to figure e-bay value on the weapon. I had already decided to bid on it. I was just intellectually curious on the model year. I wouldnt have cared if it was from the 1930's!
