Matthew: both of your sabres are things of beauty Happy I was just wondering, because second hilt looked substantial Happy There is that thing when I look at them, especially at the "Hussar" one is they look "modern" as in "modern style"(or rather ArtDeco) in architecture: clearly executed lines, no frills, all bussiness, but with style beyond just tool. Very, very nice Happy

the so-called "Armenian". It looks like a renaissance of the Magyar/Avar saber of the 10th-11th centuries.

Yes, that might be the case, if you look at the "hilt genesis" by S.Meyer graph, there is little depiction of "Sabre of Charlemagne" in the bottom of the "Wschód" (East) collumn, from which arrow points to "Armenian" style. If I recall correctly, the "Sabre of Charlemagne" is considered to be example of Avar/Magyar style. "Armenian" comes from owners of weapons manufacture in Lvov that made such weapons, style itself is said to come from Kyrgyzstan.there were other bladetypes associated with the style (apart from czeczuga-fiddlestick), that is "ordynka" and "karabela ormiańska", which sported heavier blades.

design elements of my OlliN Sword Hussar Saber ... So, let's bump this back up
to the front for those of my fellow forumites who might not have seen this project ...

A design from the past by Antonio Cejunior. The grip and butt-cap were figured into the
OlliN Sword design ...

Detailed photograph of a second reproduced Hussar-style saber I nearly purchased,
coming from Europe. This figured into the early design by AC ...
