I can't wait to get my hands on mine. What thread did these come from anyway?

They came from Howy's thread "A Short Contest".
I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, but that which it protects. (Faramir, The Two Towers)

My collection is lacking a classic, cruciform knightly single hander, which I have been meaning to correct for some time but kept putting off for other purchases.I am really glad now that I waited so long to do it, this looks to be what I was waiting for - I'm not gonna be able pass this one up, especially at this price.

... despite the poor Aussie dollar value I'm in! I placed my order an hour or so ago! Big Grin

I have been looking for a Knightly sword that appealed to my tastes for some time now.

So now the hard part - waiting. I just have to be patient and will look forward to further previews on this thread.

Cheers

The next several days should be long and tortuous for you...mine will be longer in coming since I have the bulk to pay off yet, but I will look forward to hearing the first customer comments in the meantime. From what I have read and heard so far this sword is a gem.

Wow. I think you might sell a lot of these at the introductory price now that photos of it are up, those who haven't ordered one yet have 11 days to be tempted. If I hadn't done so already I would have a very hard time resisting.

A very unique grip. I'm excited for this one to arrive. Pictures never do a sword justice. If the pictures look good, the actual product in person looks even better.

I chose Oxblood for my grip color and the standard grip without the cross-hatching option. The photos have my doubly excited and I'm glad I didn't hesitate on this one.

Very beautiful!
The sword looks more massive and beefier with the grip.
I also ordered oxblood grip. I think that will work very well with this sword ;-)

It seems that the cross is a bit different shaped from the "original". It looks a little bit chunkier and not waisted as far out as the Whitham sword or is this a optical illusion?

Well, it looks pretty close to me compared to another shot. However, I can see a little bit of what you're saying on the right arm. Peter mentioned that there were slight differences. Perhaps one of them was making both sides of the cross the same.
I hope this helps,
Dan

Why is the spiral grip the default standard grip for this model? Is this an option that Albion will be looking at for other models, and will the standard grip of other models ever be available for the Vigil?

Yes!
It really looks as if the Vigil sword is true to one of the cross arms. And that the original has to quite different cross arms.
Interesting.
I liked the none choosen arm more, of course.
But I can live with that Cool
