Hi!
Latest news- we're working on around 20 sample pages to finalise the look and feel of the book, and the whole visual approach.
Final format should be agreed soon. Final round of photography to begin early in the new year.
Release depends on how long fund-raising takes, but it'll be done as fast as we can!
Best,
T

So pleased to hear that this is still going to be printed. as from what I have heard it sounds like the book of my dreams and is a must buy for me along with 'Records of the Medieval Sword'. Thank you for writing such an interesting book.

If fund raising is an issue then perhaps we can pre-order.

Fantastic. But what I really need is such a reference on 14th C armour. When can we expect this from you?

Ha ha. Yeah right. Good one.
Actually, I've been asked about a C14th book quite a few times... But let's get the C15th sorted out first. This one has taken me more than 10 years, so 1300-1400 might be a while...
The publisher is going to fund the book as a Kickstarter campaign, which takes the place of an old-fashioned subscription.
I will post new info as it comes in. Every spare minute I have is going into this now until it's done!
Best,
TC

How about starting the next one covering 1100 - 1400 and covering mail to early plate?

When Toby says 'every spare minute' he probably means about 10 mins per week... if lucky!

Thank you for the update Toby, I've been following your notices closely. As others have mentioned, I'd be happy to place a pre-order if, and when, it's appropriate.
The purse strings have been quite tight for some time now, but fortunes seem to be turning.for the better. That being said, I have a large backlog of "must haves" and your book is at the top.

As soon as the kickstarter goes up I'll be backing it, I've been interested in this book for... well, years now.

Yes... Sorry about that. The years part I mean. This stuff takes time. Well, it take me time anyway. I wish I knew the secret to making it go faster...

Ah yes, the joys of dealing with publishers... And of course having to deal with image & intellectual property rights increases the complexity (and thus delay) exponentially. Still, well worth waiting for - sounds like it will be a terrific resource! Even better if you feel up to dedicating another decade towards a book on the 14th Century...

Tobias, do you have any kind of an email list or something we could subscribe to? I'm a bit of a kickstarter addict and would definitely like to be one of your supporters just as soon as your campaign starts.

I have already responded to Toby's initial posting here as a 'potential subscriber' so I am also in for Kickstarter - an email list would certainly be a good idea if possible please.

I wouldn't mind this book either. I have enough spare cash somewhere 'round her too to boot. It would be a great resource for my re-enactment group, as one focused on the war of the roses period, and I have been mesmerised by knights and armour since I was a wee lad.
Also, England! Woop woop!

Thanks guys
It really is all happening, believe it or not! The designer is finishing up 30 sample pages for the Kickstarter campaign, while I prepare all the final text and image files for him. And of course I'm still adding new material.... That will probably continue right up to the point the publisher presses the 'print' button...
More news soon!
Best,
T
