Hey Jonathan!
Please keep in mind that my opnion is EXTREMELY biased, for a variety of obvious reasons...
With that said -- this is THE classic knightly sword, the one that I have been searching for since I was a kid.
It moves like an extension of my arm, is light enough to not be a burden at all, yet I would be scared to death to be on the receiving end of a blow from that sword. "Cutting" is not a strong enough word for what that sword feels like it would do -- "shearing" blows is closer. I have not had the pleasure of cutting with it yet but I am looking very much forward to it.

Hi, Howy
Two questions for you (not to hijack this thread any farther than I alreay have. . .). First, as I said before, I spent far more time admiring the scabbard for your Knight than the sword itself. This the case and my memory failing me, is the blade on your sword antiqued as the hilt is or did you leave it stock polish? Second, I was just reading the current spotlight feature article on Type XIII, and I was wondering - still seeing the type conspicuously absent from the lineup - if there is a piece in the works to fill the void; specifically, I am wondering about a true type XIII, not one of the sub-types?
Okay, three questions. . . as I haven't had a chance to really get them side-by-side in hand, how does the handling compare between the Squire Line Knightly and the NG Knight? I figure they would be pretty close but I'm searching for the "devil's details", if you will.

Hey Jonathan!
The blade on my Knight is not antiqued -- just the hilt.
We are planning on filling out the entire Oakeshott Typology at some point and Peter has been thinking about a true XIII for the line.
Lastly -- I'd say that the differences in handling between the Knight and the Squire Knightly are very slight -- most noticably the "live" feeling that you get only in a sharpened sword (becase of the difference in edge geometry). On paper they are virtually identical, but the subtlties are in the hands-on feel.

I could have sworn that we had a more recent "group shot" thread going , and I am certain I contributed to it, but my search fu keeps bringing this thread back to life. so here goes some thread necromancy. (I love Patricks photo in any case)
I had most of my gear out this weekend so took a randomly composed shot of my 15th c armoury along with various sundries
in no particular order
my broadsword, my fat bastard, my longsword
target and bucklers
my short axe and long axe
my short hammer and long hammer
a lance and some darts
pilgrim staff
a fighting knife and some eatin' knives
a dagger and a razor
a root club/singlestick
a gonne and crossbow
some helms, brigandine and mail
