Photographic genius? It was more like "How the hell do I contort myself so the I don't knock over the tripod, get the pic somewhat focused, zoom in, and trigger the shutter with my left hand without stabbing myself or a curious cat?"
There was little genius involved and any "harmonization" is entirely coincidental. But thanks anyway! |
Well, planned for or not the resulting image is striking ! If you didn't notice before the fact you can see how the scalloping of the rondel pommel and the triangular detailing around it on the gauntlet seem made / designed for each other.
Sometimes with visual stuff the thing is not being a genius by deliberately creating something great, sometime it's just recognizing it after the fact even if it was an accident. Well. I still like it.
You can easily give up your freedom. You have to fight hard to get it back!

I haven't added up how much I've spent on my current collection (nor do I want to), but I do know my collection gallery is among the smallest here. I've bought all of my Albion items at various sale/discount prices, which helped immensely. My collection is certainly less grand than folks like Mac and Nathan and Bill Grandy and others. Not that that is much consolation to my wallet...

Valentine Armouries makes a repro of it, though they use a brass cross instead of a painted/gilded one. There's not special story to why I chose it; I just like it.
My old avatar was my Windlass great helm with a Green Bay Packers (US footbal team) cheese-head wedge used as a ridiculous crest.

I always thougth that looked like a hunk of cheese but I was too embarassed to ask the question. In battle it could have been implemented via a head butt to block up someones helm visor.
Those gauntlets in your photos are very impressive (not to mention the Sempach)
I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, but that which it protects. (Faramir, The Two Towers)

Background on the cheese wedge: The Green Bay Packers football team hails from Wisconsin, known for its dairy products. Residents of the state and fans of the Packers are often called "cheese heads." It's common to see these foam cheddar wedges on people's heads at games. Since my wife is from that state, we had to buy a "cheese-head." Since that great helm is from the era when crests were getting popular, I thought it'd be funny to use it as a crest for that picture.
The gauntlets are by the same maker as the pair Bill Grandy reviewed here. Based on his review, I bought my own pair, which are also pictured in my Collection Gallery. I really like them. They could be more authentic/accurate, but their price is fantastic, and the articulation is really nice.

You were right, it is funny. That is a very well thought out application of humour.
Looking back to the very first photos on this thread always makes me realise my one regret when I ordered my Regent, I should have ordered the blue grip instead of black. That little bit of subtle colour adds quite a bit to this already impressive sword. Unfortunately living in New Zealand it is no simple task to ship the Sword back to Albion for re-gripping.

OH Sir Chad! That "Edward III Sword" from Arms & Armor is a Sight of Beauty to Behold and I say this as a fellow knight of the sword who has this very same sword completely paid for in full inclusive of shipping charges, on order and in the process of being completed!
Thou art making me froth at the mouth with Lust for my forthcoming Edward III Sword 
It is part of my summer of 2007 50th birthday present to myself, the 2nd part lies in the Masterful hands of "Russ Ellis" to whom I am "Turning Loose To His Full Gifted Glory"
May I say Sir, that you have a most splendid taste in your quest of sword acquisitions and this one in particular is "My" favorite "Showpiece" of all production swords on the market today
However, I do not have a "favorite sword" per say, but the Edward III Sword by Arms & Armor is indeed my favorite Show Piece Sword! I am careful to choose my wording here, as there are some very amazing swords out there not only by Arms & Armor, but also by Albion Swords, Darkwood Armoury, Angus Trim and several other very fine quality sword companies and private swordsmiths deserving of great respect!
But right now Chad, you have got my tongue on the floor in anticipation with this beautiful photograph, as I have yet to see this sword in real life and up till this point in time, this is the best photograph I have ever seen of the hilt of the
Edward III Sword!
Once again Sir, my compliments on your esquisite taste!
