I had the oppertunity at Swordfish 2007 (Gothenburg) in early november to handle this wonderful sword. For the first time ever I held something from a film that convisted me it was a real sword. This murderous tool IS a real blade. The balance and handling was very good. It had the chopper feel to it a all the 11c to 13 c blades from albion has (me being more used to the pointy thingeies of the 14 hundreds).
I only had a few minutes with it but I could say that this could be my second choise after the Ritter if I would go for a crusade period blade.

Hi Roger,
There are currently no plans for offering the dagger.
...and it just occured to me that Jonathan Hopkins question on distribution of Arn in the US was wether the movie will be distributed (and not the sword)....and to answer that question - I don't know (yet). In Scandinavia there will be two movies (the second one will premiere late 2008) and then the movies will be made into a 6 episodes TV-series and one (1) movie for international release. When I learn more about when and were the movie/TV-series etc. will be distributed/shown I will put the information on the arn-sword.com site.

Søren, Martin, or Peter, how does this one compare in handling with the gaddhjalt?
Thanks,
Dan

I sure know how R. D. Moore feels! Maybe I should start buying $5.00 or $10.00 worth of lotto tickets a week? I personally like this Arn sword too, but my focus is on the Albion Valkyrja Viking Sword, which I know my wife is going to love too, given that she loves dragons and likes Viking swords & movies a lot.
This sword is especially nice with the bronze hilt components, which is also what makes the Albion Discerner so attractive, in fact I got to play around with the Discerner yesterday at Kult of Athena. A whole lotta life in that blade!

The handling is very similar between the two swords.
The only real difference is slight and that is the effect of the grips.
The grip of the Gaddjhalt invites a slightly more fluid hand, in that it is slimmer.
The sword of Arn provides a slightly more solid feedback, in that the ridges helps "locking" the hand in place.
The Gaddhjalt sword is designed to be a good representation of a specific type of sword based on direct research on surviving examples. When designing this sword I could rely exclusively on the data I had collected and choose those features that brings out the character of those swords the most strongly.
The sword of Arn is a movie sword, but one that also benefits from my documentation of originals. It is made to bring to life the ideas of the author of the original novels and the vision of the film makers, in a way that does not compromise the style or character of original swords from the time period of the story.
A subtle difference in focus of the design process.

Indeed, this is quite a quandry. I solved it by getting the Valkyrja for my wife and I'll eventually get the Arn for myself
